Because we always say we are above terrorists and these "enemies" of ours. How could you expect us to drop to their level? More important, if we are to instill democracy and fair courts in the region, this sure isn't helping as it looks pretty much like the status quo of military power that dictates all laws and commits acts of torture to get what it wants out of prisoners. Not saying this is the case overall, but that sure seems to be the spin that is generated throughout the part of the world where we are trying futily to make our case that this all was to improve their lives.

To be fair they were not torturing civilians . The mistreatment of the prisoners is wrong but the whole furor over it is a bit overboard in my opinion

As long as Americans have no problems with any of their captured soldiers/POWs/collaborators being interrogated in this manner then I must wholly agree with you.

So it's now an agreed policy between the two parties who are at war with each other, prisoner abuse, -for interrogation purposes- is an acceptable policy.

On behalf of the US Government and people, Foxnews confirms this today.

For Decades, Guards in American prisons have been treating American prisoners every bit as bad (worst) than those caught on tape in Iraq. But that's ok. They're just Americans.
